The face is the surface. It is the head’s front side stretching from forehead to chin. It is the mirror of your soul. It is the side you turn to people when you want to interact or look for the right partner. Turning it away can mean a lot. It is your identity. Even if you were an identical twin it is said to be unique. You can communicate non-verbally through facial expression when you move your muscles to show your emotions. In addition it can reflect your health and mood. It is the centre of all types of perceptions but the eyes are the most prominent or the living part in it. If you don’t like it try cosmetic surgery and you acquire a new identity. You can make faces. The face is of dual nature. Mona Lisa’s face is still a mystery. Faceless figures were often depicted by René Magritte. It is the most visible part of you seldom covered even in winter. It reflects your true nature but it can also be most deceptive. It can mislead. You need special skills to be able to read faces. You can of course lose face. It is the cause of embarrassment or shyness. Sometimes you have to cover it or drink alcohol to be able to show it to other people. People used to attend masked balls. With your face you can do something it is said to be unique in humans: you can smile or laugh by tensing your face muscles, It helps humans clarify or hide their intentions in social interaction. Laughter is symbolic: a sign for being part of a group or mental disorder. It is thought to be therapeutic and hypocritical. Still a partner with humour is needed. Beware of taking things at face value.
