Night Fall
I was a night owl for some time maybe because I was born in autumn. I was always looking forward either to weekends or days I didn’t have to get up so that I could stay up until the small hours of the morning. I enjoyed the creative peace of the night and the darkness. Night had no danger or evil associations for me. Sometimes, I went to bed but kept awake either reading or forming plans for a journey. I then used to travel back and forth as long as my memory or my imagination could carry me. When my nights became longer and longer I turned to a sleepy head during the day. I then discovered the power of napping in the afternoon but the problem was I was not able to have a nap because of work. I had to wipe the sleep from my eyes in order not to sleep rough. I hoped I could finally put myself to sleep.
One night after staying up very late I got up, closed the door, switched off everything and went to sleep. I woke up when night fell again. This way my days became nights and I changed my job to night shift at home because I could do more work in the dark mist. I was now as powerful as magicians. Artificial light improved my night-time activity. I missed the sun but moonlight made up for it.
Night life opened my eyes more. I thought now it is worth trying hibernation for some weeks. I knew some animals could do it even longer. I made the necessary preparations, bought some food and started eating but when I fell asleep and after a period of three weeks I could not get up anymore.
