About-turn
I was on my way to work when I met a colleague just before I got to the tram stop. She stopped when she saw me, got out of her car and said half-jokingly even without greeting: Let’s turn round, go away and leave everything behind. We both laughed but continued our way to work. Although she didn’t mean it you could see there was something serious in it. A month later while I was on my way to work I felt like putting it into practice. I wanted to see what it is when I changed my job to a tramp. I took out all the books in my bag and threw them in a dustbin. Then I turned round and walked the opposite direction. After walking a long way I reached a crossing. As I was now exhausted I sat on an old bench nearby and kept watching trains and people go by.

I must have fallen asleep for a while for when I opened my eyes I saw it was almost two hours later. As usual I looked round before getting up. Suddenly I saw something strange just a few metres away from me. It looked like a big hole dug deep in the ground by road works but without any warning signs. When I slowly and carefully bent forward I couldn’t see the bottom. To my horror I heard my mother’s voice deep from inside begging for help. Without any hesitation I jumped into the dark hole. I don’t remember how long it took me to reach the bottom but when I got there, there was no trace of my mother. I was quietly laid to rest.
