Islamist Took over the local FM radios and Televisions of Horn Afrik and GBC in Mogadishu

Mogadshu city- Last week the Islamist fighters of have taken over the local FM radios and Televisions of Horn Afrik and GBC in the strongholds of Islamists in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
The local Journalists have confirmed that several Islamist forces had forcibly entered to the centre of Horn Afrik located in Bakara market last Sunday evening and chased the journalists working there.

Islamists took over whole instruments of the TV and radios and reporters said that the fighters hadconfisticated the keys of the offices, studies from some of the workers who were at the centre and broken cassettes, the spare parts and materials of the radios while they took FMs and other important instruments of TV.

They also took the FM and instruments of Capital Voice which was a partner with Horn Afrik radio and Television. It is unclear the main reasons that islamist took over the radio so far and Horn Afrik was one of the radio stations abided by the orders of Islamists that banned the music.

The radio was an off air in over the last three days for unmentined reasons, but on the other hand the Islamist forces have taken over the control of Voice of Peace Radio known as (GBC) at the area of Ex-control Bal’ad in Heliwa district in Mogadishu on Monday morning according to some of the journalists lioving in Mogadishu war torn city.

Reporters confirmed that many of Islamist fighters had entered at building of GBC radio on Sunday afternoon and ordered the journalist to leave from the centre of the radio and TV as soon as possible.

There is no comment from Islamists since Islamist fighters had taken over the instruments, FMs of both the Holy Koran Radio known as (IQK) and Somaliweyn in Mogadishu pas months and this step seems to be part of plans that Islamist fighters were aming to take over the whole private radio stations and Televisions in southern and central Somalia.

Last years, there were no media freedom in Somalia and journalists were killed, threatened and muzzled and this tragedy caused that uncountable famous journalists to flee thier motherland and they are refugee in world-wide.

Onthe other hand, Abdikadir Jirow Sharma’arke, the director of Horn Afrik radio who is currently in Hargeisa capital city of Somaliland self declared governmnet told the local press that they were very sorry for the step that Islamists tooke over the radios and TV s instrumnets.
Ali Mohamed Gutale known, the deputy director of Horn Afrik radio said that the action that Islamists forcibly have taken over the radios were unfortunate and were also expecting one asserting his speech that their media will not remain silent.

“We were expecting that Islamists would one come to Horn Afrik and take over whole instruments of the radios, television and also the other radios under their control. We were expecting that this would happen any time, they took all materials of the Horn Afrik radio, Capital Voice radio, the television and other materials of Reuters agency in the station, but Horn Afrik will not stop working and wont tolerate threats,” said Ali Mohamed Gutale.

Mr. Gutale talked more on two days that the radio was an off air saying that the silence of the two days caused by dispute between the administration of Horn Afrik.
