How Could IS be Defeated?

By Freeyad Ibrahim

IS can be defeated only if their stronghold in Mosul, north west Iraq is recaptured(-restore-d- retrieved) .

In fact most of the IS leaders are old officers of the Baathist party of Saddam Hussain. The so-called Caliph Abu Bakir al-Baghdadi is a prominent Baathist. The most of the generals and high rank officers fled to Mosul after the downfall of the dictator. That explains why the two sons of the Sadam Hussain, Uday and Qusai were killed there by the American airstrike after the fall of Bagdad.
His daughter Raghad, his uncles, nephews, sons in law, brothers, and other relatives live in Mosul and they lead , plan and prepare for the terror attacks right down there.
If they are driven away from Mosul they would flee to Syria. The ongoing airstrikes are able to weaken them there but not conquer them. They cut the tail of the snake but don’t smash the head of the snake.
To defeat them completely needs troops on the ground. The best troops, you all know, are the Kurds.
Give the Kurds weapons and give them independence, equally.
Otherwise you make use of them for your own interests and not for their own.
But the first step is to drive the Baathist - terrorists out Mosul.
