The US, Bigger than the World, Smaller than Israel

Holding citizenship of the United States has always been considered a symbol of exceptionalism, a marker for protection against any kind of human rights violation. Nobody could mess with a US citizen. The US dictates and the world follows. After all, the US is said to be the greatest country in the world. Not anymore!

American citizen Rachel Corrie faced an Israeli bulldozer with her passport. She thought the US would protect her and come to her rescue should there be a need to. Little did she know. The United States is bigger than the world but always is smaller than Israel. Rachel Corrie stood brave against the Israeli occupation to protect a Palestinian home from demolition. To that noble cause, she paid her life. The Israeli bulldozer ran her over and crushed her beautiful soul under.

The US could have argued that US tax payer money, paid to Israel in billions of dollars, could at least grant protection to US citizens on lands occupied by Israel. But it did not.

In replication of the incident, Muntaser Shalabi, a United States citizen has been arrested for allegedly opening fire on Israeli settlers and killing one. There was no investigation. The man was suspected, arrested and there does not end the Israeli justice. To make an example of him, the home of Muntaser Shebli where his large family has lived for years, was bombarded by the Israeli forces and leveled with the ground. Family members were left homeless.

The US government issued a statement. “As we stated numerous times, the home of an entire family should not be demolished for the actions of one individual," it said "the punitive demolition of Palestinian homes" was one such step that exacerbated tensions. In other words, the US fails to protect its own citizens´-or-claim the safeguarding of their human rights, which has always been the guise for invading other countries around the world.

Israelis murder Palestinians around the clock and go unpunished. What would have happened if a Palestinian punished an Israeli family for a murder committed by one of its members? The situation is sensitive and the US government cannot make further comments just like when it could not answer to the right of Palestinians to defend themselves´-or-claim justice at the ICC.

Deterrence is the justification of Israel just like self defense. Palestinians can resort to the same tactics, defend themselves and deter Israelis from being the terrorists they are.

Palestinian homes are being confiscated in Sheikh Jarrah, Silwan and other neighborhoods in Palestine in broad daylight theft. Israel collectively punishes non-Jews who dared believe they were equal. The US cannot comment further but can sure continue granting tax payer money to strengthen the Israeli machine. The US commander in chief knelt before the lady rabbit who gave birth to twelve kids as she symbolizes motherhood of the twelve tribes of Israel.

Perhaps the US which claims to condemn collective punishment started it when punishing Iraq for suspecting its, then, president.

“And that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.” Boasts the US passport in a joke that sounds so pathetically satirical when the same government perishes from Israel.

The man quoted on the US passport is the same man who issued the Emancipation Proclamation to combat slavery. The poor creature did not know slavery escaped the door of the US but came through a wide window called Israel.

It is about time for that passport and the hypocritical values it quotes to be flushed down a toilet, an Israeli one preferably. That is about the freedom the US can claim.
