John 1:19-28
John the Baptist Denies Being the Messiah
19 Now this was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders[a] in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. 20 He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, “I am not the Messiah.”

21 They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?”

He said, “I am not.”

“Are you the Prophet?”

He answered, “No.”

22 Finally they said, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”

23 John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’”[b]

24 Now the Pharisees who had been sent 25 questioned him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

26 “I baptize with[c] water,” John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. 27 He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”

28 This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing.”
According to these verses John bears the testimony of Christ Jesus’ Deity indeed He didn’t present Himself as the Messiah Neither as Elijah nor as a prophet, since it is not the presentation that interests him nor the titles, but he is sent by God to prepare hearts to receive Christ Jesus initiating the act of Repentance embodied by the purity dwelling in the heart and which is translated into the works of faith in Christ Jesus hence John is telling that Christ Jesus not introduce His Kingdom through outward presentations then He was crucified because He was accused of being the king of the Jews, whereas the divine power he has is linked to the fact that he is the Word, and beyond that it is hardly an earthly power that does not exist, although the Divine Word exercises power over the earth which is a subject of His creation.
Whence Christ Jesus didn’t present Himself with the pomp of a terrestrial monarch who need the shows and spectacles to be attractive to the eternal hungry and the profiteers because outside their circus, the clown kings are incapable of having any authority But it is just defined as the Word and therefore It does not need a presentation since Its power is substantial and Its source is God.
Accordingly and in accord with the Isaiah’ prophecy John the Prophet, which does not need to present himself as such, is the voice of Repentance which is preparing the desert of hearts empty from God to be able to receive Him through the purity as the precondition to see God thus the eyes and the heart are the holy treasures coming from the Heavenly Kingdom.
Whence due to His status of Prophet sent from God, John deserved the disapproval according to the historical and eternal enemies of Christ Jesus, namely priests who are representatives of the sects who always sows doubt and troubles in the image of their deserted and cold hearts and their cloudy visions like the damned serpents from the beginning who often swim in the murky waters and beyond the sects as criminal organizations reject the light to commit their crimes in complicit silence and to make use of mendacious and unsubstantiated claims.
Hence the question that arises according to them revolves around the status of John allowing him to baptise the deserted hearts of sinners so that they may pass through the vale of tears of separation from God thus receiving His Divine Light, Nevertheless, the question of the crimes committed against the Prophets of Christ Jesus and His Apostles as well as the most heinous crime in human history, namely the crucifixion of the Son of God, does not even arise for them since they are simply the perpetrators of his crimes.
In addition John the Apostle advances John the Prophet’ argument significantly by making a major point namely the coming of Christ Jesus who is baptising through the Holy Spirit whence John as the Prophet is the precursor of the founding act of Christianity, namely the Baptism in the Holy Spirit initiate by Christ Jesus since John the Prophet baptized with water which symbolised the purification of hearts from sins in order to receive the Light hence in accord with His Prophecy, Christ Jesus came as the Promised Messiah.
