The Invisible Label

Imam Ali Bin Abi Taleb says that the most generous people are the people who find excuse to others. This is exactly what we call in psychology the invisible label.

The invisible label is the dim space we do not understand in other people s behaviour and find unjustifiable.

A car ahead was moving like a turtle before me on a narrow road not giving me way to pass in spite of my continuous honking to the man who drives it! I was on brink of losing my nerves when I noticed the small sticker on the car’s rear!

Physically challenged...Please be patient.”

And that changed everything!!
I felt shame, put myself in his place and blamed myself for being so importunate.

I immediately went calm and slowed down!!

In fact, I got a little protective of the car the driver!

I reached home a few minutes late, but it was ok!

And then it struck me.

Would I have been patient if there was no sticker?

Why do we need stickers to be patient with people!?

Will we be more patient and kind with others if people had labels pasted on their foreheads?

Labels that tell messages we do not know like :

Lost my job
Fighting cancer
Going through a bad divorce
Suffering Emotional abuse
Lost a loved one
Feeling worthless
Financially broken
I am fired

....and more like these!!
In fact, there are no-limit-s for the uncountable series of invisible labels.

Everyone is fighting a battle we know nothing about.

The least we can do is to be patient ,kind and compassionate

Let us respect the Invisible Labels and find excuse for all behaviour and attitudes that we do not understand !
