Maysan poems

In the strategy of the tongue:
In search of new sensors during the days of full of joy. These days, writers celebrated the publication of a book (Poems of Maysan 2021) by their -union- in Maysan. It includes 36 poets translated by Dr. Samir Al-Sheikh. This warm welcome coincided with the birthdays of Jesus Christ “peace be upon him” and the New Year. They are looking forward to welcoming 2022, They are hoping the technical figures make their way into happy minds.

About the book:
The book is used to guide the conversation about the structure of the new text. With a group of poets are joining to poll their opinion under the title (Maysan poems). And in the meaning, they raise the goal of poetry to cross the dark time which occupies on feelings. Writers have been generating a retrograde hope and continuing with despair over the years.

Building confidence:
However, this time the referendum is proceeding according to a unique experience in Iraqi poetry. In the footsteps of the individual responsibility are adopted by the Foundation of the -union- of Writers - Maysan, where poetry moves in the streets, sidewalks and nearby stations the city’s poets usually travel to their towns in order to tighten the bonds of commitment. But, this time is unprecedented. It has been a free jump across the airport lines. To extend the sound through the letters of the language - English - to make the journey of their voices crossing the continents. From the darkness of life to dazzle it, a new light of immortal souls unfolds in paper. It technically increases and interacts between letters and fonts. What do these poets want from the world to hear?

Civilization promotion:
Through storms of sympathy and high winds is a book that does not seek harbors for warmth´-or-rest, unless, it is free and heard by the target before reading. There are many poems from Maysan often having been written in Arabic as a first language. And poets are surprised by the echo of the scanty reading. They discovered they must try listening in other ways. In a practical way they started by changing the ear. So, the first poems challenging came on consisted of a dream of a vigilance and perseverance. And it was overwhelmed as usual by the difficulty of translating into a second language, it is not the other way around. Secondly, the speech came as a transparent bet that is possible to see except on the contrary, by which I mean - except - through a second language for the purpose of entering other voices with it. Where during the literary culture, the common aspirations grow the consolidations of all human construction.

The professor D. Samir Al-Shakh:
Professor of literary stylistics and semiotics of classical myth. He is the chairman of the English department and higher studies faculty of education, University of Maysan, Iraq, In the forum said: These thirty-six poems are systematically and aesthetically selected to represent the poetic scene in Maysan. The chosen poetic text is characterized language economy, transparency of de-script-ion and deep worldview. Exploring these selected poems based on meaning potential reveals four types of themes: the critical war poem, the love poem, the refection poem, and the post-flood poem. All these talented experiments and techniques are encoded in Maysan poems. The poetic texts are rendered in terms of meaning-based translation.

Mr. Hamid AbudlHussein Humeidi:
A poet, critic, and head of the Writers -union- in Maysan, he is describing this experience and talking to us about the noble motive behind such a quest, said: The project of translating the poems of Maysan is a step towards introducing the writers of our city to the world, in a manner befitting their poetic and humanitarian status. He adds: This project is one of three most important projects that the -union- also adopts in translation, such as a book for young poets, translated by the poet Mr. Raad Zamel, and another book on short stories, translated by the writer Professor Abdel Hakim Yassin. Copies of these translated books will be sent to international libraries in different countries to be in the hands of the Western reader soon.

A step to leave out of the past:
After the speech relapses, shackled by pure subjectivity, revolving just between a personal exhaust and laziness, it isn t heard by only its sound, it permeates lethargy with a long yawn. But this whirlpool of tales is recorded today as a highly vigilant spirit flutters in poetry raised to the world and it seeks to raise the tragedies of Iraq during the storming years. During the challenges of the independent free discrimination of speech, although the voice in any case from Maysan is sad. We believe that it will be an effective human voice. As well as we also think the book will become readable and to get through reading it, participate, share for establishing the goal of communication with others. 12/25/2021
