Abu Firas Al Hamdani and the Dove

I said to a dove that mournfully cooed beside me:
O! You neighbor! Do you feel what I suffer?

You have never ever tasted agonies of separation,
You have never ever experienced the worries of mind.

I,heart-broken,bear future burdens
On a far-reached high branch.

O my neighbor!
Life did not treat us fairly.
Come hither, that wy share
uneasy conditions together

Come nigh to find my fragile soul
echoes in a body exhausted and tortured.

Shall a captured laugh? Shall a free bird weep?
Shall a grieved keep silence? Shall an indifferent wail?

O dove, my eyes should shed tears more than you, but
My tears, are, in adversity, hard to flow
