DEFERRED PROMISES, VOWS AND HOPES

On that special night, you told me of deferred promises, vows and hopes
That night was supposed to be clear and defined in words and deeds
That night I suffered and grieved, and anger, doubt and suspicion overwhelmed me
Because you spoke to me in a different than lovers are familiar with
Those who used to be optimistic about the New Year
Hope that it will be different from the year before
And expect that their wishes and dreams will come true

On that special night, I searched for a quiet refuge´-or-a safe place to which I would run to be alone
Far from my bewilderment, my obsessions, my fear and the anxiety that overwhelmed me
To review the details of the night’s tape carefully, calmly and with a clear mind!!
Yes, that night, your speech caught me by surprise because it came without preliminaries
Lacked the simplest manifestations of love, affection and loyalty
Lacked the simplest feelings of civility, kindness and tenderness

That night, my boats lost their sails and got lost in vain groans
The night grew darker, and I turned away from any hope of sweet dreams
Or melodious and ardent desires to sing
Or the hope of new days and newborn songs
Even if they are far, far away!!

Forgive me beloved, this time I did not express to you my heart’s palpitations and the extent of my love and longing for you
I did not ask you about your conditions and your latest creative activities in the fields of poetry, prose and thoughts
Forgive me for my bad response to your greetings and abundant wishes for health, happiness and contentment
But it is okay, my beloved, if all these compliments come parallel to your deferred promises, vows and hopes!!
Good evening with bouquets of flowers, handfuls of jasmine and more.
Thank you and have a wonderful time. I love you too much.
