The book International Economics by James Gerber has been completed to cover all topics of international economics at the macro and micro levels, where the book presents the principles of fundamental theories of international economics supported by policy analysis and the economic causal relationships of the international economy. Explaining the consensus between economic opinions if they exist, and indicating differences in opinion of economists with reference to the agreement of economists more than disagreement.
The book was divided into four parts:
Part I (Introduction and Institutions): The first chapter is entitled: The United States and the world economy, and the second chapter is entitled "International economic institutions since the Second World War".
Part II (International Trade) Chapter III: Presentation of the comparative advantages and returns of international trade. Chapter IV: On comparative advantage and abundance of factors of production, Chapter V: Beyond Comparative Advantages, Chapter VI: On the Theory of Customs Duties and Quotas, Chapter VII: (Trade Policy), Chapter VIII: On International Trade, Labor Standards and the Environment.
The third part discussed the topic of international finance and included: Chapter IX on International Trade and the Balance of Payments, Chapter X on Exchange Rates and Their Regulations, Chapter XI: Introduction to the Study of the Macroeconomics of the Open Economy, and Chapter XII on International Financial Crises.
Part IV presented regional issues of the world economy and included chapter XIII entitled: The United States of America in the World Economy, Chapter XIV on the European -union-: Too Many Markets in One Market, Chapter XV: Trade and Policy Reform in Latin America, Chapter XVI on Export-Oriented Growth from East Asia, and Chapter XVII which presented the experience of the BRIC countries in the world economy.

The presentation of the topics discussed in the book not only covered economic theory but the author always tried to support it with examples of its practical applications in the experiences of the countries of the world and the international economy.
The two main aspects of international economics (partial and macro) were covered with the aim of focusing on basic concepts, and topics were arranged according to their relative importance.
In the book, the author attempts to shed light on the relationship between economic theory and economic policy on the one hand, and between economics and the rest of the social sciences and humanities on the other.
Each part of the book focuses on a particular geographical area of the world, giving students the opportunity to broaden their perceptions and understanding of global economic -dir-ectives and observe the intellectual power of economic theory during practice.
The Arab Center for Arabization, Translation, Authorship and Publishing contributes to the localization and translation of scientific books from foreign languages, especially English and French, into Arabic, with a focus on books of interest to students of higher education and graduate studies. Under the umbrella of the Center, a number of professors from the Faculty of Economics at Damascus University (Dr. Ahmed Saleh, Dr. Haitham Mustafa, Dr. Qais Khader) and Dr. Hassan Ismail from the Higher Institute of Management translated a valuable book entitled: (International Economics), authored by the well-known economist: «James Gerber». The book reached 496 pages of medium pieces.
The contribution of the professors of the Faculty of Economics at Damascus University in translating this educational book illustrates the lofty role of Damascus University in the transfer of science and knowledge to the Arabic language, and the publication of this book confirms the great role of the Arab Center for Arabization, Translation, Authorship and Publishing in the dissemination of knowledge and the dissemination of economic thought.
