القضية:
وصلنا من مدافعي منظمة الدفاع الدولية في سوريا خبر أقدام السلطات الامنية (فرع الأمن السياسي) على اعتقال السيد عبد الرحمن حبيب من قرية سنجق سعدون التابعة لمدينة عامودا، وحدث الاعتقال بتاريخ 12 تموز من العام الجاري، والسيد عبد الرحمن البالغ من العمر الـ70 عاماً يعاني من مشاكل صحية.
واشارت التقارير الى نقله الى السجون السورية في مدينة دمشق، ولايُعرف بعد ذلك اي شئ عن حالته او وضعه، كما لم يُعرف لحد الان نوع التهم الموجهة ضده.
مطالب منظمة الدفاع الدولية:
يجب تذكير السلطات بأنها دولة طرف في اتفاقية الامم المتحدة لمناهضة التعذيب التي انضمت اليها سوريا في العام 2004، وبذلك فهي ملزمة بضمان عدم تعرض السيد عبدالرحمن لخطر التعذيب والمعاملة القاسية او اللانسانية او المهينة.
للسيد عبدالرحمن الحق بالاتصال الفوري بمحامي يختاره هو بنفسه وله الحق ايضاً في اللقاء بأسرته وبالاخص فمن الضروري التأكيد على تلقيه للعلاج الطبي الذي هو بامس الحاجة اليه.
حملة منظمة الدفاع الدولية:
الحملة الموصى بها هي إرسال مناشدات بحيث تصل بأسرع وقت ممكن للإعراب عن القلق إزاء اعتقال السيد عبد الرحمن حبيب؛ وللاعراب عن القلق العميق لكونه قد يكون محتجزاً في الحبس الانفرادي، حيث يمارس التعذيب بكثرة وفقاً لمقرر الأمم المتحدة الخاص المعني بالتعذيب؛ وتحثون السلطات على ضمان ان السيد عبد الرحمن حبيب البالغ من العمر الـ70 عاماً لن يتعرض للتعذيب او اي نوع من انواع المعاملة السيئة او العقوبة القاسية. علاوة على ذلك فتدعون السلطات للافراج عنه فوراً ودون قيد او شرط الا اذا كان قد اتهم بتهمة ما، حينها تطالبونهم بضمان محاكمة عادلة وسريعة؛ كما تطالبون باعطاء السيد عبد الرحمن الفرصة للاتصال بمحامي من اختياره ولقاء عائلته والحصول على اي علاج طبي قد يطلبه.
ترسل المناشدات إلى فخامة الرئيس بشار الأسد رئيس الجمهورية العربية السورية، والى معالي وزير الداخلية و معالي وزير الدفاع ومعالي وزير العدل. يرجى نسخ الرسائل و من ثم اضافة التوقيع و العنوان الى الرسالة وارسالها على العنوان او رقم الفاكس او البريد الالكتروني المرفق

I write to express my concern to learn that the old man Abdul Rahman Habib was reportedly detained on 12 July 2007 in Amuda, and is now held at an unknown location. I would like to point out that Abdul Rahman Habib has several health problems and his life maybe in danger.
I am also concerned that he is detained incommunicado, where torture is most frequently practiced according to the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture. I urge you to ensure that Abdul Rahman Habib is not tortured.
Furthermore I call on you to release Abdul Rahman Habib immediately and unconditionally unless he is charged with a recognizable criminal offence and given a fair and prompt trial.
I would like to remind the authorities that Abdul Rahman Habib must be given immediate access to a lawyer of his own choosing, his family and any medical treatment he may require.
I hope for your urgent attention to this matter.
