Husam Ramadan’s Translation of the poem “The Way to Victory” By the Palestinian Poet Ghazi Al-Muhr
The Way to Victory

Oh, our Jerusalem!
You are our pulse,
Do not complaint about our night,
How long it remains,
it will certainly come to an end,
The sun will awaken the desiderata,
Our history narrates to us that victory comes from our blood,
whose fragrance scents the soil,
and through which our self-praise transcends,
Victory is not the ego,
but our oneness,
We have to have our Islam,
it is the path of goodness,
The minarets complaint about disaffection,
Where are the all hearts?
whose pulses beat for them,
Who censure their favor?
Mournful churches,
they shattered their hopes,
So, who can bring their bell back?
Though their warmth and magnanimity,
they are still deserted of people and folk of theirs,
Where are we like a nation,
that does not fluctuate to keep ties with her?
We still have there a memory
that inflames love
There is even no one infidel among us
Longing inside us is not gone,
The feelings overflowing with grief shake us
So, how can we not go to her
with all verses of visions?
to follow the way of guidance
whereon powers exist
Indeed, our victories are
in an endless history

درب النصر
يا قدسنا يا نبضنا
لا تشتكي من ليلنا
فالليل إن طال انقضى
والشمس توقظ المنى
تاريخنا يروي لنا
النصر من دمائنا
يزكو بعطره الثرى
يسمو به إباؤنا
النصر ليس في الأنا
النصر في اتحادنا
لا بد من إسلامنا
فإنّه درب الجنى
مآذنٌ تشكو الجفا
أين القلوب كلّها ؟
يهفو إليها نبضها
فمن يعيب فضلها؟
كنائسٌ حزينةٌ
قد حطّموا آمالها
فمن يعيد جرسها؟
بدفئها ونبلها
مدائنٌ مهجورةٌ
من ناسها وأهلها
فأيننا من أمةٍ
لا تنثي عن وصلها؟
هناك ما زالت لنا
ذكرى تؤجّج الهوى
ما عاد فينا جاحدٌ
فالشوق فينا ما انطوى
تهزّنا مشاعرٌ
فاضت بنيران الجوى
فكيف لا نمضي لها
بكلّ آيات الرؤى؟
لنقتفي درب الهدى
ففيهِ تكمن القوى
فإنّما انتصارنا
في سيرةٍ لا تنطوى
