حملة من اجل الشهابي سجين الرأي السوري

2006 / 8 / 31حملات سياسية , حملات للدفاع عن حقوق الانسان والحرية لمعتقلي الرأي والضمير
لا يزال السيد علي سيد الشهابي البالغ من العمر خمسين عاماً مختفياً منذ استدعائه من قبل مركز الأمن في دمشق في العاشر من اغسطس 2006. قلقنا الكبير ينبع من خطر التعذيب وسوء المعاملة ـ ذلك الخطر الذي يواجهه السيد الشهابي بالرغم من انضمام سورية الى اتفاقية مناهضة التعذيب في العام 2004.
في الثاني عشر من اغسطس توجهت عقيلة السيد الشهابي الى مركز الامن في دمشق للسؤال عن زوجها وابلغتها السلطات بان زوجها مقبوض عليه ولكنهم رفضوا التطرق الى سبب الاعتقال ولم يسمحوا لها بزيارته.
في السابع عشر من اغسطس، وبعد حزن والم دام لايام، كانت اشبه بسنين الاياب، سالت فيها دموع الغياب، بادرت السيدة الشهابي بالذهاب، لنفس الاصقاع... لاقناع السلطات للسماح لها برؤية زوجها، ولكن دون جدوى.
لم توجه ضد السيد علي سيد الشهابي اي تهمة ولكن يُعتقد بانه اعتقل بسبب المقالات التي كان ينشرها في الحوار المتمدن.
التحرك الموصى به والذي نحثكم عليه هو إرسال مناشدات بحيث تصل بأسرع وقت ممكن للإعراب عن القلق ازاء ما يقاسيه السيد علي سيد الشهابي... ولذلك تطالبون السلطات اما بتوجيه تهمة له ومحاكمته محاكمة عادلة او بالافراج عنه لانه وكما تشير الحقائق سجين رأي وضمير.
ترسل المناشدات إلى فخامة الرئيس بشار الأسد رئيس الجمهورية العربية السورية, وكذلك الى معالي وزير الداخلية. يرجى نسخ الرسائل ومن ثم اضافة التوقيع و العنوان الى الرسالة وارسالها على العنوان او رقم الفاكس المرفق.

By this letter, I wish to draw your attention to the case of ‘Ali Sayed al-Shihabi.
Ali Sayed al-Shihabi was arrested on 10 August, possibly in connection with some articles on political and social issues that he had written. I would like to express my concerns at this recent arrest.
I wish to seek assurances that Ali Sayed al-Shihabi will be well-treated, and not tortured or ill-treated, while in custody.
Furthermore, I wish you to remind the authorities that Ali Sayed al-Shihabi has the right to immediate and unrestricted access to his family, a lawyer, and any medical treatment he may need.
Finally, I would like to call on the authorities to charge Ali Sayed al-Shihabi with a recognisably criminal offence or to release him immediately, as he appears to be a prisoner of conscience, detained solely for the peaceful expression of his views.
I would appreciate if you could spare the time to inform me of any progress in the above-mentioned case.
